Peel Test
Dec 12th, 2008 | By kmaier@enerconmail.com | Category: Evaluating Surface PerformanceJust as tape can be used to determine the adhesion level of inks and coatings, tape can also be used to determine the surface energy of a surface. The method is relatively simple, but it does require a machine that can accurately and precisely measure the amount of force that is required to pull the tape from the surface of the plastic. The test requires a relatively large, flat area on the part to be tested and the tape must be well rubbed to insure intimate contact. If the process is well done, the machine will determine the surface energy of the part by determining the amount of force required to peel the tape.
